In the original game, this character was named "Arnold Littleworth." I changed the name to reflect the vaguely Spanish feel of names in Maldor.

Gaspar is an itinerant hedge-magician who will cast spells for food and a place to sleep. He's led a pretty hard life, and doubts himself a lot, but tries to be upbeat. Though Gaspar dreams of restoring the ancient Three-Corner Academy and using its magical tomes to improve the lives of his countrymen, he's also not above swindling people in his guise as the mysterious, oracular "Zolobachai of the Nine Visions." The overall vibe here is a children's storybook sort of character: a well-meaning sadsack whom most people would uncharitably dismiss as a complete fraud. But he's only an incomplete fraud; he's coolness waiting to happen, even if it's likely to be long wait.

Gaspar Pocovalor is a short, dumpy, middle-aged guy with a receding hairline and occasional back pain. His wizardly regalia as "Zolobachai" however is far more imposing: crimson robes trimmed with gold stitching, a sandalwood staff, and a covered wagon full of strange little caged animals and odd herbal mixtures.
